Former VM passes away
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

Former Bacolod Vice Mayor Wilmar “Boy” Drilon, 76, succumbed to septic shock at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City at about 6 p.m. yesterday

His wife, Mila, yesterday said her husband had been undergoing dialysis for 14 years.

He would have turned 77 on December 26.

They have yet to decide where to hold her husband’s wake, she said.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Drilon was an effective, efficient and reliable public servant.

“He was my first vice mayor and he has left an indelible mark of friendliness and cordiality and that he was the kind who has almost everybody as his friend,” Leonardia said.

Until now they are amazed at Drilon’s thoughtfulness. He never forgot one’s birthday until the end, he said.

Leonardia said Bacolod has lost a public servant, an outstanding citizen and a friend of the people.

He said Drilon was his vice mayor from 1995 to 1998.

Drilon is survived by his wife, Mila, and their four sons: Wilmar Jr., Kent, Richie and Steven.*
