The Hugpong Federalist of the Philippines Inc. denounced the alleged collection of funds from their aspiring members in exchange for alleged national identification cards and livelihood projects, at a press conference at the Negros Press Club in Bacolod City yesterday.
Fortunato Pelaez, HFPI president and National Alliance of Movements for Federalism Inc. regional operations director, alleged that their organization was misrepresented by Weddy Libo-on, their former assistant director for operations, and the NAMFed head for Northern Negros.
Pelaez said that provincial director of federalism, Emmylou Magno of the Department of Interior and Local Government asked them about rumors about HFPI collecting funds in Northern Negros, particularly in Manapla.
Miguel Jimenez, HFPI chair for Cadiz, said accomplices of the formers assistant director also started collecting funds in their city in February.
Aside from some statements from organization leaders, the Malacañang Complaint Center returned some letters signed by Libo-on to HFPI, Pelaez said.
Pelaez alleged that Libo-on labeled himself as secretary general of Hugpong Federalismo ng Pagbabago Inc., a non-existent organization he affiliated with the Ilonggo counterpart of Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Meanwhile, HFPI, under NAMFed, announced the postponement of their oathtaking on Saturday due to unavailability of guests.*JAB
