Miss Earth-Malaysia 2018, Jasmine Yeo Suk Peng, will join the launch of the Tree-Growing Project and the celebration of the National Clean-Up Day in Brgy. Tuburan, E.B. Magalona town tomorrow.
Peng who will be in the province for three days, arrived yesterday to have lunch with Mayor Marvin Malacon and his officials in Brgy. Balaring, Silay City.
She will also take part in the town’s socio-civic activities today, including a short visit to the municipal offices, feeding programs in Brgys. Batea and Tomongtong, and a tour of the Blue Crab-Picking Plant.
Peng also expressed her intention to help in the town’s livelihood program, and in training people to convert waste materials to fashion pieces in Brgys. Batea, Tuburan, and Alicante.
Peng, who is from the Sarawak state in Malaysia, will represent her country in the Miss Earth pageant on November 3 to be held in Boracay, Aklan, where Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco of the Philippines, will crown her successor.
Malacon said he is thankful to Peng for her participation in their environmental and social activities that he called "overwhelming.”
“Miss Earth’s concept is also about the environment. In our municipality, we are also doing our best to be responsible regarding our environment,” he said.
Peng was invited by Environmental and Natural Resources Officer Jojo Vargas, through Art Alvarez, the national program director of “Let’s Do It! Philippines.”*JAB
