Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia signed Executive Order No. 09 creating the Bacolod City El Niño Task Force on April 4, executive assistant Jose Maria Vargas, said.
Vargas, cluster head of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said the task force was created to mitigate the possible effects of the El Niño phenomenon and to make plans and recommendations to the mayor for whatever projects they may implement.
He said he will convene a meeting with the members of the task force this week, composed of representatives from the City Agriculture Office, Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Health Office, DRMMO, Bacolod City Water District, and Central Negros Electric Cooperative.
Vargas said the chairman of the task force is the mayor.
He said their first concern is water supply, so he will give Baciwa an update about El Niño. Baciwa will also brief them on its initial plan that will be evaluated before it is presented during the meeting of the task force this week.*
