win national tchoukball titles

Bacolod Ilahas Seniors and Christian Athletic Volunteers (CAV) Butanding Cebu captured the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, in the National Tchoukball Championships 2019 held at the STI-West Negros University Gym in Bacolod City.

Ilahas Seniors defeated Manila Crickets while CAV Butanding dominated Ikthus Sharks of Bacolod in the finals of the three-day competition, that ended with an awarding ceremony on Friday.

John ElrayJamelo, playing coach of the men’s champion squad, said Saturday that their team faced a tough challenge en route to the finals after losing twice in the elimination round, and then winning in the semi-finals.

‘Jaw Breaker’ to fight Saka in Japan

Joe “Jaw Breaker” Noynay of Cebu will fight Kosuke Saka of Japan for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific super pacific title on April 20 at the Edion Arena in Osaka, Japan.

The 23-year old Noynay (16W-2L-1D, 5KO) retained his WBO Asia Pacific Youth super featherweight title by a TKO over Qixiu Zhang of China in September last year at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Noynay has beaten Junny Salogaol of Cebu by unanimous decision on Dec. 9, 2018, at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.
