Join drive vs. dengue, public urged

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is enjoining all private and public schools, offices, and the 61 barangays in Bacolod, through the Office of the City Mayor, to participate in the conduct of the “Sabayang 4-O’clock Habit Para Deng-Get Out Activities”.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Cindy Rojas, said the activity is pursuant to the Department of Health Memorandum No. 2019–0307, in reaction to the declaration of a national dengue epidemic.

DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III declared the Philippines under the State of National Dengue Epidemic on August 6.

The resolution said there is a noticeable increase in the figures between 2019 and 2018, with children, especially those who are 10 years old and below, becoming the most susceptible to dengue.

All Bacolodnons should work hand in hand in order to combat the threat of the dengue virus by ensuring that their respective surroundings are clean and free of breeding grounds of mosquitoes that might be carrying the virus, it added.*
