Bacoleño nabbed for ‘raping sis’
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

A jobless man allegedly raped his 16-year-old sister in Bacolod City, at about 9 a.m. yesterday, the police said.

Police Lt. Arlyn Torrendon, chief of the Bacolod Women and Children Protection Desk, said yesterday that other family members of the victim and suspect were not in the house when the alleged molestation happened.

The mother and the older sister of the victim had left the house, while the father had gone fishing, Torrendon said.

“There was an opportunity to commit the crime since the victim and the suspect were alone in the house,”she said.

The victim, who is a high school student, reported the incident to her elder sister who then sought assistance of Police Station 8.

Members of Station 8 arrested the 29-year-old suspect and he is now locked at the station’s detention cell.

Torrendon said the victim, meanwhile, is now in the custody of her parents.

The police, however, could not determine if the suspect had previous attempts of sexual abuse on the victim as this is still being subjected to further investigation, she said.

The affidavit of the victim is now being prepared and she is also set to undergo a medical examination today, Torrendon added.*
