The House of Representatives approved House Bill No. 8922 amending Section 29 of the Judiciary Reorganizational Act of 1980 and creating two more Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) branches in Bacolod City on third and final reading Friday.
Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, who authored the Bill, said yesterday he expects a speedy resolution of cases in Bacolod City with the approval of the bill.
The Senate had also approved in 2015 a bill seeking the creation of three additional branches of the Regional Trial Courts in Bacolod City authored by Mayor Evelio Leonardia when he was yet congressman.
SB 4491 is the Senate’s counterpart version of Leonardia’s HB 2490 that he filed in 2013, shortly after he assumed office as a first-termer congressman.
Meanwhile, the Senate had also approved on third and final reading a bill principally authored by Gasataya, then also a first-termer congressman, converting the Carlos Hilado Memorial College into a State University.
The House of Representatives also approved on third and final reading House Bill 8835 increasing the bed capacity of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital from 400 to 1,000, authored by Gasataya.*
