Cops seize P.8 million in shabu
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

About P875,000 worth of suspected shabu were seized in a series of anti-illegal drugs operations in Bacolod City Wednesday and yesterday.

Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 2 operatives arrested Amir Ahmad Ali, 39, and Edwin Ledesma, 48, at Sarisa North, Barangay 3 in Bacolod, at about 4 a.m. yesterday, a police report said.

Ali, who was the subject of the operation, handed an elongated sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 to a police poseur-buyer, the report said.

Nine sachets of suspected shabu and P750 in cash believed to be proceeds of the shabu sale were recovered from Ali, while the police confiscated a gray plastic canister tube containing two small sachets of suspected shabu and a cellular phone from Ledesma.

The seized suspected shabu was valued at about P.5 million.

Meanwhile, about 35 grams of suspected shabu worth P360,000 were recovered from Anjelyn Ariola in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod, at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The arrest of Ariola yielded 11 sachets of suspected shabu, P1,000 in marked money, a coin purse, and a digital weighing scale, police records show.

The No. 1 drug personality of Station 10 was also arrested in Purok San Roque 2, Barangay Handumanan in Bacolod, yesterday, a police report said.

Christian Puerto was nabbed with P15,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 in marked money, the report said.*
