12-hour power outage Saturday


There will a 12-hour power interruption in some parts of Negros Occidental on Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Michelle Vicera, communication officer of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines, said.

The areas covered by the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, like the cities of San Carlos, Escalante, Cadiz, and Sagay, and the towns of Toboso, Manapla, and Calatrava, will be affected by the power outage, she said.

The NGCP will conduct maintenance activities on the Cadiz substation and the Bacolod-Cadiz 138-kilovolt power line.

Noneco consumers in Victorias City will also experience power loss, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., also on Saturday.

On Sunday, a 10-hour power interruption, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be experienced in areas covered by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative’s Sum-ag and Lag-asan substations, and the Valladolid and San Enrique substations of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative.

Vicera said there will be maintenance activities on the Bacolod–San Enrique 69-kV power line.

In the Ceneco advisory yesterday, it said it will take advantage of the downtime by implementing simultaneous maintenance activities.

Areas affected by the power outage are barangays Lag-asan and Balingasag, Bago City College, Prk. Kapahuan 1 and 2, Bago City Hospital, Prk. Santan, San Esteban Phase 2, Sta. Catalina Subdivision, Brgy. Sampinit, CF1, CF2, San Gabriel Subd., Villa Cristita, Carmella Homes, Prk. Camingawan, Prk. San Francisco, Brgy. Calumanggan, Prk. Flower, Prk. Paraiso, Brgy. Taloc, Prk, Newton, Cawayanan;

The whole area of Bago City, including San Esteban Phase 1, Brgy. Poblacion, Pta. Playa, puroks Batad and Malipayon, Baywalk, Crossing Ubay, Bago Eco-Center, Humberto’s Resort, Hda. Pili, barangays Pacol, Bagroy, Sagasa, Caridad, Allanza, Don Jorge Araneta (Central Ma-ao), Lag-asan relocation site, Napoles, Malingin, Crossing Mining, Ma-ao, Villa Cresteta, Bacong, Binobuhan, Mailum, Ilijan, Viva Mineral Water, Buenos Aires Resort, Manghumay, and PNOC-EDC.

Affected areas in Bacolod include those from Sum-ag substation to Sum-ag highway, whole of Pta. Taytay Road, including VMA, Sum–ag highway to Medalla Elementary School, Brgy. Pahanocoy, Pahanocoy Village (NHA Housing), Brgy. Road from Bangga Tomaro to Brgy. Cabug, and along Circumferential Road, from Araneta down to HJR Prawn Processing, boundary of Bago City and Bacolod City, including Fiesta Homes Subd., Prk. KBS and San Sebastian Village up to Pta. Taytay Elementary School, Brgy. Firmville Executive, Villa Maria Reyna South, Bangga Totong, Hda. Edmar, Handumanan, Brgy. Felisa, puroks Maasin, Sta. Rita, Dulao, Tumpok and Overflow, and Blumentritt.

Meanwhile, Noceco, in an advisory, informed its member-consumers of a possible increase in the electricity rates this month due to the thinning of power supply in the grid, specifically in Luzon, for several days.*
