Over 7,000 jobs up for grabs
in Independence Day job fair


Thousands of jobseekers in Western Visayas are expected to troop to 888 Chinatown Premier Mall in Bacolod City for the government-organized job fair, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

Ronnie Pineda, senior labor employment officer of the Department of Labor and Employment-Negros Occidental, said yesterday that 7,300 vacancies from local and overseas employers are up for grabs.

Pineda, the focal person of the activity, said 2,900 vacancies are for local employment while there are 4,440 overseas employment opportunities. He added that 26 local employers and eight companies from abroad will participate in the fair, that is part of the government’s commemoration of the 121 st Independence Day.

Most of the available jobs in local companies are in business process outsourcing, manufacturing, restaurant, and construction while overseas firms are looking for skilled workers, such as engineers and welders, he said.

He said 341 individuals have signed pre-registration forms, adding that they are expecting more walk-in applicants.

Jobseekers are advised to be ready with several copies of their resumes or curriculum vitae, 2 x 2 ID pictures, certificate/s of employment for those formerly employed, diploma and/or transcript of records, and authenticated birth certificate.*
