A driver and his companion were killed, while nine others were injured in a vehicular accident at Barangay Cabangahan in Siaton, Negros Oriental, yesterday afternoon.

The fatalities were identified as driver Roldan Macahusay, 52, and his passenger, Douglas Sandoval, 74, of Barangay Giliga-on, Siaton. Both were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The accident also injured another passenger of Macahusay – Roel Macabinguel, 42, also of Barangay Giliga-on.

Police Colonel Raul Tacaca, Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office director, said the Nissan Almera sedan carrying the victims encroached on the opposite lane as the driver was maneuvering the curved portion of the road and collided head-on with the approaching Ceres Bus, he said.
