WVRAA medalists
receive cash incentives

 

Negros Occidental athletes who won medals during the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet 2019 held in Capiz last month, received cash incentives from the provincial government yesterday.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the awarding of the incentives, amounting to P917, 000, to athletes, coaches, assistant coaches and chaperons who competed in the WVRAA 2019.

Gold medalists received P1,200 each; silver medalists got P800 each; and P600 each for the bronze medalists.

Negros Occidental athletes earned a total of 415 gold (elementary -181, secondary -209, Demo-SPED – 25), 379 silver (elementary 128, secondary – 210, DEMO-SPED – 41), and 193 bronze medals (elementary – 63, secondary 72, DEMO-SPED 58) during the WVRAA meet.

Marañon lauded the athletes and their coaches for their determination to win in every event they competed in.

The governor told the students athletes that the distribution of cash incentives underscores the province’s gratitude to the athletes for their hard work and for bringing honor to the province.

Among those who witnessed the distribution of cash incentives to the athletes were Provincial Sports Coordinator, Angel Verdeflor, Negros Occ. Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Portia Mallorca, and DepEd PES Supervisor Romeo Sison, among others.
