NBG books semi-final ticket
in Gasataya Cup 40-Up caging

 

NBG virtually captured the top spot in Bracket B by disposing the game but visibly mismatched Shepherds’ Basketball, 106-92, in the ongoing Congressman Greg Gasataya 40 Up Inter-Club Tournament last night at the Bay Center.

Only ASAC stands in the way of a sweep of Bracket B by NBG. They meet today with NBG expecting another romp against ASAC. By securing the top spot in its bracket, NBG automatically progress to the semi-final round waiting the survivors of the quarterfinal match ups among teams finishing second and third spots.

Exploiting its height advantage and quickness, NBG outscored Shepherds’ Basketball, 29-14, in the final frame to extinguish any hope of an upset by Shepherds’ Basketball.

Ryan Concha paced NBG with 24 points and Arnold Braganza chipped in 22 markers. Jojo San Miguel contributed 12 points.

Roffo Dionesio topscored for the Shepherds’ Basketball with 23 points. He received support from Renante Occida who tallied 17 points.

In Bracket A actions, BDB beat CBC, 91-88, denying the Botchoy Solinap-mentored Villamonte based team an automatic passage to the next round. CBC ended the elimination round with an even 2-2 win loss card.

In the last game, KP Amigos secured the third spot in Bracket C by eliminating JR B. KP Amigos ended up with 2-2 card just enough to progress to the quarterfinal round. JR B succumbed to its third defeat.

YBAC and ELITE paced bracket C with identical 3-0 slate. The two teams will meet tomorrow to determine the bracket topnotcher.*Cloyd Orceo
