Three Bacolod residents were sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for selling shabu to police poseur buyers for P200.
Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, in two decisions, sentenced Ramon Plona Cuison, alias Caloy, Roger Buenafe Danoso, and Richard dela Rosa Gallenero to life imprisonment and to pay fines of P500,000 each.
They were found guilty for the sale of shabu in violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Cuison and Gallenero were also found guilty for possession of dangerous drugs and meted additional sentences of 12 years and 8 months as minimum, to 17 years and 8 months as maximum imprisonment, and to pay fines of P300,000 each.
Danoso and Cuison were charged for conspiring in the sale of .060 gram of shabu for P200 to police poseur-buyer PO2 Renante Blancada assigned to the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (CAID-SOTG) in Purok Cadena de Amor, Barangay 29, Bacolod, on Aug. 5, 2014.
On their arrest, three more sachets containing .749 gram of shabu were recovered from Cuison, the court was told.
The police told the court they conducted the buy bust operation after they learned that Cuison was engaged in the drug business using his house in Purok Cadena de Amor as a sort of drug den.
Gallenero was charged for selling .041 gram of shabu for P200 to police poseur-buyer PO3 Ivan Inoperio, a CAID-SOTG intelligence operative, in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod, on Jan. 8,2014.
On his arrest, an additional .074 gram was recovered from his possession, the court was told.
Javier ordered that the seized shabu in both cases be turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 for destruction.
He also ordered that all three accused be immediately transferred to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila.*
