Senator and Philippine ring icon Manny Pacquiao is attending the second home game of the Maharlika Pilipinas Baskeball League (MPBL) at the USLS Coliseum in Bacolod City on October 17, Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya said.
Gasataya said Pacquiao has confirmed to him that he is again returning to Bacolod this month to watch the MPBL game in time for the 40th edition of the MassKara Festival.
He had requested Pacquiao to return to Bacolod during the senator’s recent visit to city, he said.
The first game will be between Pampanga and Cavite, while theBacolod Master Sardines will be playing against Cebu during the second game, Gasataya said.
The Bacolod Master Sardines had six wins and nine loses but it will have new players coming in that he believes will help improve their performance, he said.
Pacquiao was in Bacolod on September 22 to also watch the first home game of the Bacolod Master Sardines where it defeated Soccsksargen during the MPBL game, which he founded. He also gave out about P1.5 million in cash to Bacoleños who waited for him in his hotel and in other places he visited.
Gasataya said he personally thanked Pacquiao for sharing his blessings with the people of Bacolod during his recent visit. Every assistance he could extend to the people will be of great help to them.
He saw Pacquiao’s willingness to help, as well as the appreciation of the people for his generosity, he said but pointed out that the senator gave out his personal money.*
