The Bacolod City government is trying to hit a P3 billion budget for 2020, Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairman of the SP Committee on Appropriation and Finance, said yesterday.
Rojas said the mayor is now trying to go over the budget submitted by the department heads that will be deliberated on, probably on the third or fourth week of October up to November.
She will conduct the budget hearings with other members of the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod to deliberate on it, she said.
The department heads will defend their budget during the budget hearings and will be asked how they implemented their previous budgets.
Last year’s budget was P2.52 billion which was P270 million higher than the 2018 budget, or an increase of 12 percent.
The bulk of last year’s budget went to the City Mayor’s Office, the Bacolod City College, City Engineer’s Office, and City Health Office.
About 50 percent of the budget comes from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) and the other half from local sources.*
