185 stores in Neg Occ

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Occidental said 185 establishments in the province comply with the suggested retail prices (SRPs) of basic necessities and primary commodities.

Based on its weekly report from June 16-22, the DTI monitored 20 stores selling flour, which has sufficient supply, except for Himamaylan City.

No stocks and insufficient supply of canned sardines were monitored in the supermarkets in the cities of San Carlos, Silay, Escalante, Sagay, and Victorias, the report said.

Over P600M in cash aid released

The Department of Agriculture in Western Visayas already released P615.27 million in cash assistance to more than 100,000 farmers in the region.

As of June 26, the DA said 75,917 rice farmers from the provinces of Negros Occidental, Aklan, Antique, and Capiz received P414.49 million in financial subsidy.

In Iloilo, 34,910 rice farmers got P174.55 million in financial assistance, while P26.23 million from the DA’s Survival and Recovery Aid covered 1,049 farmers.
