18 farmers receive CLOAs

Eighteen farmers in Bago City, Negros Occidental now own the land they till after the Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental 2 turned over Certificates of Land Ownership Award to them recently.

The 16-hectare land was formerly owned by Newsal Enterprises Inc., located in Barangay Taloc in the city.

Doanne Ritz Consumo, senior agrarian reform program technologist (SARPT), said during the distribution ceremony that agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) are considered modern-day heroes for serving as frontliners in the fight against Covid-19 by ensuring food for Filipinos.

She urged the farmers to take good care of their lands so they can help uplift their lives and their families.

Marvin Rubio, also a SARPT, said that after DAR distributed the land, the agency will help empower the ARBs by providing them with support services to increase production and income.

He reminded the farmer-beneficiaries of their obligations, as stipulated under CARP, particularly concerning the payment of taxes and land amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines.*
