270 San Enrique farmers get cash aid

Some 270 farmers of San Enrique town in Negros Occidental received financial assistance from the Department of Agriculture at the Provincial Capitol grounds in Bacolod City Thursday.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the turnover of the financial assistance from the DA’s Financial Subsidy for Rice Farmers.

Each farmer received P5,000 one-time cash aid to buy farm inputs and other necessities.

The beneficiaries of the program are farmers, who are tilling rice farm one hectare and below.

For the province, there are 25,000 farmer-beneficiaries who qualified for the program, with total allocation of P125 million.

The LandBank of the Philippines also facilitated the distribution of the cash assistance.

Present at the turnover ceremony were Albert Barrogo of DA Region 6, Provincial Agriculturist Japhet Masculino, and San Enrique Municipal Agriculturist Marilou Peñafiel.*
