SP recognizes hotels, inns
for help in fight versus virus

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution recognizing the hotels, tourist inns and pension houses that accommodated the returning Overseas Filipino Workers of Bacolod City, as their contribution to the campaign against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The resolution, authored by Councilor Israel Salanga, cited the management of these establishments for their unwavering services without any discrimination to the returning OFWs, who are considered the country’s modern day heroes.

It also stressed the aggressive response of the city government in repatriating returning OFW Bacolod residents to help them get together with their families and secure them in their respective homes.

The resolution said that the city government and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) partnered with hotels, tourist inns and pension houses in Bacolod in accommodating the returning OFW residents since the first week of May.

On March 16, President Duterte placed the country under enhanced community quarantine which caused the suspension of public transportation, including air and sea travel, that stranded many returning OFWs in different parts of the country.*
