A 40-year-old man died in a shooting incident in Manapla while a construction worker was injured in another incident in Himamaylan, Negros Occidental on Sunday.
The police report stated that a 40-year-old man was gunned down in broad daylight at Hacienda Unson at Barangay Santa Teresa, Manapla, on Sunday, apparently due to an old grudge.
Investigation revealed that based on the narration of the witness, the suspect, identified as alias George, 22, was riding on a Kawasaki motorcycle when he stopped, dismounted, approached the victim, and without any provocation shot him hitting on his body.
The victim was able to run but was chased by the suspect who shot him again with a caliber. 45 pistol, hitting the back of his head which resulted in his immediate death.
According to the father of the suspect, his son has an old grudge against the victim, as the latter was a suspect of the killing of the suspect’s uncle.
Following the incident, Manapla PNP launched a hot pursuit operation for the possible apprehension of the suspect.
Meanwhile in Himamaylan City, a 31-year-old construction worker was hospitalized after he was shot by his neighbor during a heated argument at Purok 9, Barangay Aguisan.
Investigation revealed that the brother of the victim and the suspect, alias Boy, 43, were having a heated argument outside their residence.
As the victim heard the argument, he went outside of their house and suddenly, the suspect shot him twice using an unknown caliber of firearm, hitting both of his legs.
The suspect immediately fled the scene after the incident, taking with him the firearm he used.
The victim was rushed by his relatives to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
A pursuit operation was conducted by Himamaylan PNP for possible arrest of the suspect.*
