A 25-year-old laborer died, and an elderly man sustained severe injuries when their drinking partner stabbed them both at Purok Orchids, Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, on Thursday evening.
Investigation revealed that the victims and the suspect, identified as alias ‘Jojo,’ 30, along with other companions, were having a drinking spree at the suspect’s house, when a heated argument ensued.
According to police reports, the suspect became irked, took a knife, and stabbed the 25-year-old victim, hitting him in various parts of the body, which caused his death.
The older victim attempted to pacify the altercation, but the suspect also stabbed him in different parts of his body. He fortunately survived and is currently in recovery.
The suspect, who fled the scene after the crime, was arrested following a hot pursuit operation conducted by the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station.

On the same evening, authorities reported that a 24-year-old construction worker was shot by his drinking partners at Sitio Calipnisan, Barangay Rumirang, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
Initial information indicates that the victim and the suspect, alias ‘Siloy,’ were having a drinking session in a makeshift house. An argument erupted, leading to a commotion.
Afterward, the suspect reportedly went to his motorcycle, retrieved his caliber .45 firearm, and fired multiple shots at the victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect fled the scene afterward, while the victim was immediately rushed by his family to the hospital and is now in stable condition.
Personnel from the Isabela Municipal Police Station launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect.*
