A print operator of the Outdoor Master company died when his motorcycle collided with a taxi at Hernaez Extension-Mansilingan Road in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday.
The victim was identified as Noel Tingson, 38, of Barangay Villamonte in Bacolod, a police report said.
Traffic investigation showed that a Mitsubishi Adventure taxi driven by Terence Paul Dalimu-os, 43, of Brgy. 35 in Bacolod, was heading towards Mansilingan when it collided with the Honda XRM motorcycle driven by Tingson, who was on his to way to Libertad, P/Lt. Florentino Abalayan, Station 7 chief, said yesterday.
Abalayan said they have yet to check the closed-circuit television camera in the area, but the initial sketch of the investigator showed that Tingson overlapped on the lane of the taxi.
Tingson, who was on his way home, was not wearing the helmet that he had in his possession when the collision happened, Abalayan said.
He said personnel of the Bacolod Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, who responded to the scene, found Tingson already dead.
Dalimu-os, meanwhile, was detained at the custodial facility of Station 7 and was set to be released at 6 p.m. yesterday, if no charges are filed against him before the reglementary period for his detention lapses, Abalayan said.
He said the family members of Tingson and Dalimu-os had initial talks for a possible settlement at the police station.
If a settlement can not be reached, the family of Tingson may file charges for Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide and Damage to Property against Dalimu-os, Abalayan added.*SGG
