Ten-year-old author Elise Gamboa with her published book ‘Andoy’s Unique Music’*

Young Bacoleña Elise Gamboa, launches her first published book entitled “Andoy’s Unique Music.”

Gamboa was the youngest student enrolled in a Storywriting Class organized by award-winning creative writers during the 2020 pandemic lockdown. Her story in that class, written when she was 8 years old, is now her first published book.

Her storybook showcases the creativity of a young Filipino boy named Andoy.  His favorite band is in town, but their instruments got lost.  Fearing that the band couldn’t play, Andoy finds a way to help the band.

Ten-year-old Gamboa worked with storybook illustrator Ar-Em Bañas through emails, to achieve the overall look and feel that she wanted for her storybook.  She provided Bañas with her own concept art and she included this in the book for her readers as well. “I want my readers to see how my own ideas can be translated by a professional illustrator”, she said.

“This book was inspired by my own love for music.”  Gamboa shares.  She also enjoys playing the piano, the drums and the electric guitar.  “I want my readers to learn that anything can be a musical instrument.”

“I want my readers to feel inspired when the read my book.  I want them to know that they can be authors too, even at a young age,” Gamboa adds.

“Andoy’s Unique Music” was published on a limited run, was registered with an ISBN by the publisher, and is also available as an ebook on amazon.com.

Gamboa already has plans for her next projects.  She also just recently finished building her own website.  The public can visit  www.elisegamboa.com or contact the young author and purchase copies of the book through storybyelise@gmail.com.*
