A total of 101 health care workers and support staff of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental, were placed under quarantine because of COVID-19, disclosed Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz.
Diaz said that 63 of them were tested positive for COVID-19,while 38 others are under isolation.
Among those who tested positive forCOVID-19 are eight doctors, nineteen nurses, five nursing attendants, one midwife, nine medical technologists, one pharmacist, two radiologic technologists, and eighteen support staff members.
Thirty-eight others, composed of three doctors, seventeen nurses, a nursing attendant, four medical technologists, two radiologic technologists and eleven support staff were also placed under quarantine.
This prompted the hospital management to suspend regular services at the hospital Outpatient Department and COVID-19 vaccination center. Admission at the hospital have also been limited to extreme emergency cases.
Diaz however said that operations in other district hospitals remains normal, despite some of their health care workers having also tested positive for COVID-19.
He also reported that three quarantine facilities in cities of Silay and Cadiz, as well as EB Magalona, are filling up again.
Provincial government records show that there are more than 100 occupants now at the Silay City quarantine facility, 70 at the Cadiz quarantine facility and 14 at the EB Magalona quarantine facility.
As for bed occupancy, the Cadiz District Hospital (CDH) increased to118 percent after COVID-19 patients rose from 102 cases, Diaz said.
But he reported that patients at CDH were mostly initially admitted for other ailments, and not for COVID-19.*
