A total of 1,054 rice farmers in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental received P5,000 each from the Department of Agriculture’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

The financial aid distribution, which was held on Jan. 17 at Moises Padilla Covered Court, was led by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, assisted by Mayor Ella Celestina Yulo, and Ester Ruth Torreverde of DA Region VI.

The Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF – RFFA) provides financial assistance to rice farmers as compensation to the projected income loss arising from the rice tariffication.

DA is set to distribute aids to other farmers of the 32 towns and cities of the province in scheduled dates.

Also present in the activity were OIC Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Dina Genzola, Moises Padilla Municipal Agriculturist Ann Gayona, and local officials of Moises Padilla.*
