Twelve barangays in Bacolod City are all set to compete in the Electric MassKara Float Parade and Dance Off Competition later at 6 p.m.
Electric MassKara Chairman Christine Mereria, announced at a press conference that the participating barangays are Barangay 2, 5, 8, 12, 17, 19, 32, 33, 34, Cabug, Granada, and Mansilingan.
The dozen competing barangays are divided into three categories based on the theme ‘One Smile, One City, One Heart.”
Under the category One Smile, the festivals of Bacolod will be highlighted, with Barangay 5 featuring the Tanduay Rum Festival, Barangay Granada for the Inasal Festival, Barangay Cabug for the Bacolod Film Festival, and Barangay 34 for the Bacolaodiat Festival.
Meanwhile, the iconic spots in Bacolod will be featured in One City category, with Barangay 12 to showcase the Bacolod Public Plaza, Barangay 33 for the San Sebastian Cathedral, Barangay 19 for the Art District, and Barangay 8 for the Yulo’s Park.
Finally, in the One Heart category, famous Bacolod food will be on the spotlight with Barangay 17 for cansi, Barangay 2 for seafood, Barangay 32 for pasalubong, and Barangay Mansilingan for cakes.
The grand winner will be going home with a P350,000 cash, while the first and second runners up will receive P200,000 and P150,000, respectively.
The float parade will begin at The Upper East of Megaworld and will proceed to the Bacolod City Government Center, where the barangays will perform their dance showdowns.
Following the competition, the floats will return to Megaworld to allow the public a chance for photo opportunities, where six additional floats from corporate sponsors will join the parade.*
