Twelve more employees of the San Carlos City government in Negros Occidental, have tested for the use of illegal drugs, Mayor Renato Gustilo revealed yesterday.
Of those who tested for positive for drug use, Gustilo said 10 are Job Order workers, while the two others are regular employees
He said that he already advised the Office of the Human Resource and Management to terminate the employment of the 10 JO employees, while there will be a confirmatory testing for the two regular employees, based on the rulings of the Civil Service Commission.
Regarding the fate of two regular employees, Gustilo said “it’s either we fire them, or to require to submit themselves to a community-based drug rehabilitation program.”
The drug testing conducted by the city government of San Carlos was aimed at ensuring a drug-free workplace, as mandated by the Civil Service Commission.
In July this year, the city government also terminated the employment of a JO worker, after he was tested for illegal drugs use.
Gustilo said that the San Carlos city government allocates funds annually for drug testing of its employees.*
