Dondy Santillan Jr., a resident of Glendale Homes, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City and a Grade 7 student of Living Stones International School, won the gold medal in the Cadet Division of Taekwondo at the recently concluded Batang Pinoy held at Puerto Princesa, Palawan from November 23-28.
Santillan is part of the Bacolod City delegation headed by Jean Pierre Sabido, coaches Windell Billiones and Crystal Pauline Sabido.
The young Santillan overcame five competitors in five grueling matches where the finals match turned out to be as close as it gets, when Santillan was able to connect a series of kicks in the head that clinched the win at the last minute.
Santillan proved to be unmatched in his category as he also captured the gold medal in the Palarong Pambansa held earlier this year. His dedication and passion to master the sport of Taekwondo are worthy of emulation and is only a testament that Bacolodnons are destined for sports greatness in national and international stages. He is the son of Jacqueline and Dondy Santillan Sr.*
