An estimated 12,000 guests, delegates, and athletes from private schools nationwide are set to arrive in Bacolod City for the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games, scheduled for May 9 to 15.
Bacolod City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven Mayo said the Bacolod City has allocated P1 million from Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation funds as a donation to the PRISAA organization.
These funds are intended to assist with the operational requirements of managing a national-scale sporting event.
He confirmed that the city is serving as a co-host for the national event alongside the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and STI West Negros University, which are acting as the main organizers.
At least 25 public schools in the city will serve as billeting quarters.
Competitive events and official gatherings will be distributed across various venues, including Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions facilities, local private schools, and the Bacolod Arts Center in Bacolod City National High School.
Venues outside Bacolod City, including the Panaad Park and Stadium, will be handled by the Provincial Government
Mayo said that the city’s preparations are focused on accommodating the influx of visitors and ensuring that essential facilities are ready for the opening on May 9.
Local departments are expected to coordinate on utilities, traffic and security measures to manage the increased population during the competition period.*
