Thirteen more government employees in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental have tested positive for the use of illegal drugs, Mayor Renato Gustilo disclosed on Tuesday.
All of them are job order employees, according to Gustilo.
The city government of San Carlos City has been regularly conducting drug testing, in compliance with the Civil Service Commission’s mandate of a drug free workplace in the government.
This month alone, Gustilo reported that a total of 707 San Carlos City government employees were subjected to a series of surprise drug tests.
Gustilo said those job order workers who tested positive for illegal drug use would be dismissed from their respective jobs.
The regular and job order employees who underwent drug testing are assigned at the Public Employment Service Office, Information Technology and Computer Service Office, City Environment and Management Office, People’s Park Management Office, City Engineering Department, Traffic Management Authority, Consuelo Alger Community Center, and even members of the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Last year, 20 San Carlos government employees tested positive for drugs.*
