The drug-cleared barangays in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental rose to 14, with barangay Santo Niño added to the list on March 29 by the Regional Oversight Committee on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, disclosed acting town police chief Capt. Eric Doronilla.
EB Magalona is composed of 23 barangays.
Doronilla said that the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council headed by Mayor Marvin Malacon is targeting one or two barangays a month to be declared as drug-cleared, to accomplish their target of making the town as drug-cleared by middle of next year.
Brgy. Santo Niño is headed by Brgy. Capt. Romulo Villanueva Jr.
Doronilla lauded the unwavering support of the concerned sectors in the campaign against illegal drugs, especially the local government unit under the leadership of Mayor Malacon.
The Regional Oversight Committee is chaired by the regional director of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.*
