The Bacolod City Host Lions Club (BCHLC), together with its twin club, the Kaohsiung Port Lions Club of Taiwan, commemorated the 15th Anniversary of Lions Park with a solemn flag-raising ceremony and a tribute to the park’s founding members in Don Salvador Benedicto.
Salvador Benedicto Mayor Nehemiah de la Cruz Jr. led the welcome rites for BCHLC, Kaohsiung Port Lions Club, and guests from Kaohsiung Elite Lions Club, Kaohsiung Zhen Hai Lions Club, and delegation members from Iloilo.
In a symbolic gesture of unity and international fellowship, the Philippine National Flag and the Flag of Taiwan were raised simultaneously as both national anthems were sung.
Messages highlighting the importance of Lions Park as a shared service legacy were delivered by BCHLC president Jade Distrito, Kaohsiung Port Lions Club president Kevin Guo, past president Jimmy Lin, and Board Member and BCHLC past president Marxlen de la Cruz.
Past District Governor Eriberto Layda offered a moving tribute to the park’s founding members. He acknowledged the instrumental role of Dr. Nilo del Carmen and the collective efforts of Bacolod City Host Lions Club, Kaohsiung Port Lions Club, and Inchon Lions Club in establishing the Lions Park and Community Center in 2010.
The anniversary celebration reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between Lions Clubs in the Philippines and Taiwan, and their continued commitment to service, community development, and international goodwill.*
