The campaign against illegal gambling in Negros Occidental netted 167 violators from August 1 to 15, according to reports of the Police Regional Office 6.
Among the violators, a total of 132 were accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, while the 35 others were arrested by the Bacolod City Police Office.
In terms of arrested violators, NOCPPO and BCPO ranked first and second, respectively, in the campaign of PRO 6 against illegal gambling, followed by Iloilo City Police Office and Iloilo PPO at 25 each, Antique Police Provincial Office with 16, Guimaras PPO with four, and one arrest each made by the Capiz and Aklan PPOs.
A total of 239 violators were arrested all over Western Visayas, yielding P71,644 in cash bets.
NOCPPO accounted for 55.23 percent of the arrested violators in Region 6, PRO 6 records indicated.
In a statement, PBrig. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, rallied police commanders to sustain the momentum in the campaign against illegal gambling.*
