The Kabankalan city government has 195 employees who have availed of socialized housing, and 17 beneficiaries received keys to their houses, in a ceremony led by Mayor Pedro Zayco yesterday.

Zayco, assisted by Vice-Mayor Raul Rivera, councilors Efren Gaspillo, Ramon Cordova, and Celestino Dumaguete, Rose Depra of the National Economic Development Foundation, Bernadette Ayala – focal person of the Kabankalan Social Housing, and Terence Dacles, of GIZ Philippines, turned over the keys to the owners after the inauguration and blessing of the housing units, led by Rev. Fr. Jose Severino Nacional III of the St. Francis Xavier Parish.

The 195 housing units are located at the Isidro and Pedro Villages in the city. Each has a floor area of 32 square meters, and a lot area of 100sq.

“As I turned over the keys to the homeowners, it was my prayer that they will take care of this property and live a peaceful and bountiful life with their family,” Zayco said in his speech during the ceremony.

Rivera said that Zayco and his brother, former mayor Isidro, are giving city government employees the opportunity to have decent and affordable houses. The mayor also said that another phase of the socialized housing will be opened soon.*
