Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said the agency will release Livelihood Seeding Program (LSP) Negosyo sa Barangay cards to small scale businesses areas affected by Typhoon Odette starting Thursday.

In his report to President Rodrigo Duterte during Chief Executive’s Talk to the People broadcasted late Monday night, Lopez said some 1,036 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will benefit from the first batch of distribution of LSP cards.

A total of P8.29 million worth of LSP cards will be disbursed to 1,036 MSMEs until end of the year in Regions 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), 8 (Eastern Visayas) and 13 (Caraga).

In Western Visayas, DTI will release a total of P200,000 LSP cards to 25 MSMEs in Guimaras; P120,000 cards to 15 MSMEs in Iloilo; P560,000 to 70 MSMEs in Negros Occidental; and P1.2 million to 150 MSMEs in Bohol.

In Central Visayas, a total of 150 MSMEs in municipalities of Carcar, Sibonga, and Aragao in Cebu will receive a total of P1.2 million worth of LSP cards and 90 MSMEs in La Libertad and Guihilungan City in Negros Oriental will get LSP cards worth P720,000.

Some 168 MSMEs in Maasin, Southern Leyte will benefit from DTI’s LSP cards worth P1.34 million.

In Caraga, 304 MSMEs from Surigao del Norte and 64 in Dinagat Islands will receive P2.43 million and P512,000 assistance, respectively.

“In the interest of time, our initial distribution is the first PHP8 million so we can already give livelihood this week. And then starting January, we will continue using also the 2022 budget that, of course, we expect to be approved,” Lopez said.

Last week, the trade chief said DTI allocated P200 million in livelihood program assistance for Odette-hit MSMEs.

Under the LSP Negosyo sa Barangay, DTI will assist 2,000 beneficiaries per province affected by the typhoon, or P20 million allocated per province, with P8,000 to P10,000 livelihood assistance per MSME.

On Monday evening, Lopez announced that DTI’s financing arm Small Business Corp. (SBCorp) is allocating P500 million as loans to businesses in areas affected by the recent typhoon.

The terms of the loan will be the same as SBCorp’s COVID-19 Assistance to Restart Enterprises (CARES) program, which is zero collateral, interest-free, and with a six to 12 months grace period.*PNA
