Two Job Order (JO) employees of the Bacolod City Engineer’s Office (CEO), who served the local government for more than 30 years, have been granted the status of regular employees.
Ronnie Cordova, 58, a resident of Barangay Vista Alegre and serves as a plumber under CEO, described the surprise announcement of regularization as an unexpected Christmas gift from the Bacolod City government.
Cordova had worked under the city government for 34 years, since the time of former Mayor Alfredo Montelibano Jr.
He said that he felt terrified at first, at being called at the City Mayor’s Office, thinking he’d done something wrong.
Along with Cordova is Andrew Bisquerra, also a resident of Barangay Vista Alegre and also a JO employee under the CEO.
Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya stated that the regularization of an employee depends on the available positions, and they also assess the length of service and performance of the employee.
Last month, the city government also elevated the status of 3 other JO employees under the CEO, who have been in service for more than 30 years.*
