2 dead bodies found on Christmas Day

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

Authorities discovered two dead bodies in separate areas in Murcia town, Negros Occidental, on Christmas Day, December 25.

The human skeletal remains of an unidentified person were found at Hacienda Bernabe 1, Barangay Salvacion, at around 2:40 p.m.

Based on the testimony of the overseer of the hacienda, one of his sugarcane workers noticed a very strong foul odor while cutting sugarcane, which prompted them to check the area. Thereafter, they discovered the human remains.

The discovery prompted them to report to the police for assistance.

On December 19, human remains were also found in the same place, after the workers in the field were alerted by a strong foul odor, which led to the discovery of skeletal remains.

The police had already launched an investigation following the discovery of two skeletal remains in the same place. Police reported that as of the press time, no missing persons had been reported to their station.

On the other hand, the lifeless body of a 36-year-old piggery helper was found lying on a folding bed inside the piggery building at Purok Tan‑ag, Barangay Damsite.

Based on the testimony of the lead man of the farm, he and the victim were together on the evening of Dec. 24, during which they had dinner and consumed liquor. The next morning, the victim was discovered unresponsive when his colleague attempted to wake him up. Upon ocular inspection, the investigator noted no external wounds.

The cadaver was brought to Eastern Hills Funeral Homes for post‑mortem examination.*
