• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

A pedestrian and a motorist died in separate road accidents on Tuesday evening in Hinigaran and La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

Police reports stated that an 83-year-old pedestrian, alias Jesus, was hit by a passing motorcycle driven by alias Romy, 51, from Barangay Sibucao, San Enrique.

As a result of the collision, both the driver and the pedestrian fell onto the road and sustained multiple injuries.

They were rushed to Hinigaran Medical Clinic where the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries, while the driver is currently undergoing medical treatment and is under further observation at the same facility.

The remains of the pedestrian were brought to a funeral parlor for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old motorist collided with the rear of a truck parked beside the National Highway in Barangay RSB, La Carlota City.

Initial investigation revealed that the driver, a resident of Victorias City, attempted to avoid a parked truck loaded with sugarcane situated beside the road, which was equipped with early warning devices at the front and rear.

However, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and fell onto the cemented road. The impact caused multiple injuries, leading to his immediate death.

The vehicle involved was taken into custody by La Carlota City Police Station for proper disposition.*
