Two retired police generals, who previously served as provincial police directors of Negros Occidental, have returned to government service.
Retired P/Maj. General Charles Calima took his oath office on September 30 as an incoming undersecretary for special concerns of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Prior to his present position, Calima served as the intelligence chief for the Bureau of Immigration.
He used to be the head of the PNP Intelligence Directorate, before he retired from the PNP.
Calima also served as provincial police director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office from February 2005 to October 2006.
DPWH secretary Vince Dizon earlier said he wanted a fresh team to help him clean up the agency.
“I know them, I trust them, they were referred by people I trust,” Dizon was quoted in a television interview.
“We need to really bring in new blood,” he added.
Calima is among five new DPWH undersecretaries.
Meanwhile, retired P/Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Castil is now the assistant secretary for special concerns office of the Department of Agrarian Reform.
Before he retired from the police service, Castil served as head of the PNP Anti Kidnapping Group.
He also served as acting NOCPPO director in 2016.*
