Two persons were separately found dead during the weekend in Negros Occidental.
A construction worker, whose identity has yet to be established, was found dead yesterday along a river in Brgy. Paraiso, Sagay City, a day after he was reported missing.
The victim, according to reports of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, was carried away by a strong current while gathering shells, locally known as “kayog”.
His cadaver was jointly retrieved by personnel of CDRRMO, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and Sagay Marine Reserve (SMR) personnel, who conducted the search for the missing victim since Saturday.
Meanwhile, a certain Epineto Palacios, 42, was also found dead in Sitio Lawagon, Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
His cadaver was discovered about 500 meters away from his residence, with head injuries, a report of the Escalante City Police Station said.
The cause of his death is still being established by the police, as of press time.*
