2 injured in Cauayan hacking incident

Two companions who were having a drinking session were hacked by a passing attacker at Purok 7, Barangay Bulata, in the town of Cauayan, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.

Initial investigation by the Cauayan Municipal Police Station revealed that the victims, alias “Jose,” 53, a laborer, and alias “Michael,” 34, were enjoying themselves, while drinking alcoholic beverages, when suddenly the suspect approached them.

The suspect went near the victim, initiated a conversation which turned into a heated argument. In the altercation that followed the suspect drew his bolo and hacked the two victims.

After the incident, the suspect fled the scene while the victims were brought to Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City for medical treatment.

The police reported that alias “Jose” suffered a wound on his right hand, while alias “Michael” sustained a wound on his neck.

The Cauayan MPS had conducted a pursuit operation and successfully arrested the suspect, who is now under the custody of the Cauayan MPS for proper disposition.*
