Three separate motorcycle crashes were recorded by the authorities on Thursday in Ilog, Silay, and Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, where two individuals died.
A road crash along the National Highway of Purok Bougainvillea, Barangay Vista Alegre in Ilog town ended the life of 63-year-old alias “Noni” a resident of the barangay.
Police said that the victim was driving his motorcycle with a sidecar, and made a left turn, but he collided with a Toyota vehicle that was travelling in the same direction. As a result, the victim sustained multiple injuries which resulted in his death.
The driver of the vehicle, alias “Nomar” is now under police custody for proper disposition.
In Silay City, a motorcycle driven by alias “Sani”, 25, collided with a parked dump truck at Panaogao in Barangay IV.
Initial investigation revealed that the truck was parked in the area as the motorcycle driven by the victim, with one passenger, was traversing from an east to west direction and collided at the back of the truck.
Both the driver and back rider of the motorcycle sustained severe head injuries and were immediately brought to the nearest hospital. However, the driver did not survive and was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, two pedestrians were injured after they were hit by a motorcycle driven by a drunk American citizen along the road of Barangay Camugao in Kabankalan City.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect, alias “Joe,” who was believed to be under the influence of liquor, was driving a motorcycle with a sidecar when the incident occurred.
Prior to the incident, the suspect was allegedly unruly and confronted a family that was celebrating a birthday party, which resulted in a commotion. After which, he immediately boarded his motorcycle with a sidecar and drove away.
As he was doing so, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the pedestrians, identified only as a 28-year-old female laborer and a 48-year-old businessman.
The victims were rushed to the hospital while the suspect is now under police custody. It was also revealed that the American did not present a passport to the authorities.*
