Two police officers assigned in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental were among the awardees honored during the 32nd Philippine National Police Foundation Day held February 13, at Camp Martin Teofilo Delgado, in Iloilo City.

Conferred with the Medalya ng Kadakilaan were PLt. Col. Jesus Mesahon, police chief of San Carlos City, and PSSgt. John Michael Abao, both from Negros Occidental.

They were cited for successful anti-drug operations in San Carlos City on June 14 last year, that led to the arrest Rex Baron and the seizure of two kilos of suspected shabu, with a market value of P13.6 million.

Similar medals were also given to PMaj. Rommel Anicete and Captain Soliman, members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, for the successful buy-bust operation at Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental, on August 26, last year, which resulted in the arrest of siblings Angie and Angielyn Dumdumaya, both categorized by the police as High Value Individuals, that yielded two kilos of suspected shabu with a street market value of P13.6 million.

In a statement issued by Police Regional Office 6, Iloilo Rep. Ferjenel Biron, the guest of honor and speaker, congratulated the awardees for a job well done.

Biron also reminded the uniformed personnel to serve with integrity for the fulfillment of their mandate to serve God and country.

“We, as public servants, must unite and help each other in any way we can to effectively perform the mandate of our offices, and better serve our people for God and for our country,” the Iloilo 4th district solon said.

The PRO 6 also extended cash assistance and a token to Ivy Rose Espanto, wife of the late PCapt. Efren Espanto, of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, who died in an encounter with New People’s Army rebels in Iloilo, three years ago.*
