Two school watchmen are now locked up in jail following their arrests on July 5, for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Nabbed during a buy bust operation at the premises of Don Eustaquio Hofileña Memorial Elementary School in Brgy. 3, Silay City, Negros Occidental, were Richard Valenzuela, 43, and Romel Nerio.
Initial police investigation indicates that Nerio is a job order employee of the Silay City government.
The arrest of two suspects yielded about 13 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P88,400 and P4,000 in marked money.
According to the police, the two arrested suspects have been selling illegal drugs while on duty as school watchmen.
Another buy bust operation on Wednesday at Canetown Subdivision in Brgy. 19A, Victorias City, also led to the arrest of another drug suspect identified as Gio Secarcapio.
The apprehension of Seracarpio yielded seven sachets of suspected shabu, marked money of P500 and P82 in cash.
On the other hand, a septuagenarian identified as Felizardo Rivera was arrested by the police for illegal possession of firearms at Purok Malinong in Brgy Canjusa, Pulupandan.
A caliber .38 revolver with five ammunition was recovered from Rivera, 79, who is now under the police custody after undergoing physical and medical examinations at the Pulupandan Rural Health Unit.*
