Two unidentified persons were buried in a shallow grave that was discovered inside a sugarcane field on Sunday at Hacienda San Roque in Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
One of the victims was found naked, with his face covered by masking tape, while the other cadaver was wrapped with a tarpaulin, according to the police.
PCapt. Rosenie Cabuena, La Carlota City deputy police chief, disclosed on May 4 that identities of the two victims have yet to be established. Cabuena noted that the naked victim has a tattoo on his right shoulder.
Reynaldo Pilar said he was conducting a roving patrol in the sugarcane field of the hacienda when he discovered a digging site, while following tracks. About 50 meters away, another digging site was found by hacienda residents.
Responding authorities unearthed the cadavers of two male victims from the separate shallow digging sites. It was not determined yet if the victims had injuries prior to being buried, pending post mortem examinations by the PNP Scene Of the Crime Operatives.
Cabuena said there are no reported missing persons in La Carlota, as she raised the possibility that the victims came from other places.
Authorities cannot confirm yet if the two are “salvage victims”.*
