Ceres-Negros battles Myanmar’s Shan United
as AFC Champions League 2020 kicks off today

The 2020 season of Asia’s most prestigious club competition – the AFC Champions League – kicks off at 7:30 p.m. today with Singapore’s Tampines Rovers and Philippines’ Ceres Negros hosting Indonesia’s Bali United and Myanmar’s Shan United, respectively.

The Preliminary Round 1 qualifying action will continue just minutes later in India where Chennai FC will take on Riffa from Bahrain at the Arena Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, two regional rivals headline the opening contest in the West Zone with two-time AFC Cup winners, Al Faisaly from Jordan, going head-to-head against three-time AFC Cup champions, Kuwait SC, who will be looking to reach the AFC Champions League Group Stage for a fourth time in the club’s history.

Co leads SJI past LCC in NBTC

Justine Co scored 33 points as St. John’s Institute routed La Consolacion College-Bacolod, 113-91, to register its third straight win in Group A of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC)-Bacolod leg.

With the victory, SJI shares a 3-0 win-loss slate with Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino, Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias and Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Co shot four triples as the Baby Falcons dominated the young Blue Panthers of LCC-Bacolod with teammates Joshua Baldonado adding 23 points, Nicolas Pura with 21 and Kyan Andrada, 18 points.
