SRA explains decline
in sugar production
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

The Sugar Regulatory Administration is not alarmed by the continuing decline in the sugar production of the country.

SRA Administrator Hermenegildo Serafica attributed the lower sugar output to the drought and the fact that milling was “rather slow,” but he is optimistic that production can recover this crop year.

“There is no cause for alarm. I’m confident that we can bounce back. It is only that drought has affected our production,” he added.

SEC urges firms to submit AFS, GIS
BY MARCHEL P. ESPINA

The Securities and Exchange Commission is urging corporations to submit their audited financial statements for 2019 and general information sheet before the deadline, its Bacolod extension office information officer, Clyde Padilla, said yesterday.

Corporations in Negros Occidental, with a fiscal year that ended on December 31, 2019, can file their audited financial statements at the local SEC office on or before April 30 this year, she said.

This also goes for broker dealers who can file their SEC Form 52-AR with SEC, depending on the last numerical digit of their registration numbers, she added.
