Capitol launches Covid
case monitoring system

The provincial government of Negros Occidental launched yesterday the new coronavirus case monitoring system to streamline the database of the province and the local government units.

Leading the virtual launch were Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II, who explained the system to the mayors, policemen, and other officials.

Diaz said that each local government unit will be given a username and a password and it is up to them to decide the city or town office that will take charge of the platform.

He reminded the LGUs not to abuse the information, and use it responsibly. “We have important and sensitive information, so we have to take care of that,” he added.

He said it will be detrimental to their operations if sensitive information will be released.

He said the information will be controlled by the provincial government, and available on a “view-only application” to the LGUs.

If they have questions or need to correct certain information, they have to coordinate with the Management Information System, which is based at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital biomolecular laboratory, Diaz said.

He added that the province’s Command Center will be ready to operate soon.

He added it is better that the province and the LGUs have the same protocols and platform for efficient Covid-19 response.

Lacson said yesterday he will issue an executive order to close cemeteries in the province during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day to ensure that there will be no mass gathering to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease.

The governor came up with the decision after all 31 mayors agreed to the closure of public cemeteries to avoid the traditional rush of Filipinos to cemeteries during the Undas observance.*
